Hydraulic Equipment Supermarkets was first formed in 1965 in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire before moving to Gloucester in 1966.

The company grew in size over the coming years and opened a second branch in Leeds in 1970 in order to better serve its growing customer base in the north of England.

The Leeds depot continued to develop and grow and, in 2005, moved to a new and improved site in Millshaw Park Industrial Estate where it is still based today.
